Dorwest Herbs

Dorwest Herbs is a third generation, family owned company and the UK's leading manufacturer of herbal medicines and supplements for pets. A new brand identity was required, to work across everything from packaging and point of sale to printed literature, stationery, trade stands and vehicles.

Having organically evolved until now, a new identity was needed to refresh and reflect the next generation. As a well established and much loved brand, consumers and staff were involved from the start. We asked them their thoughts about the brand, what makes it great and what it could do better. And from the findings, the new brand platform was created.

We discovered that at the heart of the Dorwest brand is a marriage and balance of herbal and pet expertise. To represent the two aspects visually we introduced a horizon line which bisects the logo. This is used throughout the identity to aide navigation, juxtapose imagery and unite different elements.

The Dorwest logo was evolved, removing ‘Merlin the dog' in order to make it appeal to a wider audience and focussing instead on the pestle and mortar to reinforce the brand’s medicinal credentials. The logo was drawn in a traditional 'woodcut' style to represent the company's 70 year heritage.
